Rest sweetly, Grandpa.... 11/2/1921 - 4/27/2008

On the morning of April 27, 2008... my much loved grandfather "Bob" Burleigh passed away after a valiant and courageous fight with cancer. My Mom and I were in the room with him... and I feel honoured to have been able to hold his hand as he took his final breaths on this earth. He was an amazing person, humble, loving and very much determined... I will miss him terribly, but I know that he and Gran are together again, and he can breathe with ease now.

His funeral has come and gone, and we are just left with clearing out his apartment, sifting through old memories and making final arrangements.
Grandpa served in WWII in Italy as well as Holland, being one of the liberating forces at Apeldoorn. He was a career soldier, an amazing man and I was lucky enough to have known him for nearly 31 beautiful years. "A Pittance of Time" played at his funeral, May 2... I hope you all will take a few moments to watch this video and pay homage to another soldier whoe helped to pave the way for all of us in this beautiful and free country we live in today.

If we cannot do his honour while he’s here to hear the praise,
then at least let’s give him homage at the ending of his days.
Perhaps just a simple headline in a paper it could say,
Our country is in mourning, for a soldier died today.
