Merry Christmakkuh!

Just checking in to say hello and Merry Christmas to everyone. Hope you all enjoyed a great holiday with your families... we are out here in beautiful British Columbia and we are happily stuffed full of food and surrounded by those we love. All is well :o)

I thought I would share a sweet video of little Heather Martin, singing a song her Mom write.. for Heather's big brother Shaun, who is serving in Iraq and cannot be home for the holidays. She's 6, incredibly sweet... and I think you will enjoy the song....

Other than that, I just wanted to post and let you know we haven't fallen off the face of the earth.. lol. I have a lot of new and exciting things planned for the coming New Year... I cannot divulge them as of yet.. but they should be fun and I really hope everything goes as planned.
Tomorrow night, we will be dining with my best friend and her husband at a greek restaurant in town and looking forward to it. She is currently expecting bumpkin #2 and I cannot wait to see another beautiful baby in her arms soon.

So anyways... I will sign off for now, in the new year, I hope to have this updated every two days... so it won't be so empty in here.. lol. Ciao peeples, stay healthy and safe, happy and prosperous!

Winter, winter... what to think of it?

I still don't know what to think about 3 feet of snow by mid-November. It's gross... so to try and change my frame of mine.. I made the following page for my scrapbook.....

What is GOING on?!!?

So, this week started with out horrid Primus phone and internet going out... our phone is still out.. but internet is back up.
Then, on the way to pick the kids up from school on Monday afternoon, a minibus decides to pull out in front of me wihtout looking.. within 15 feet on the worst day in history on Edmonton roads. It was SO slippery.. even with wintery tired, I *barely* was able to miss slamming into them. Argh... I know I want *MY* kids riding in a bus driven by a lunatic like that. Not. So after I get the kids, we always drive up to base to get Eric. I was about 200 m from the Depot where I pick up Eric and some car in the oncoming lane slips a little, so I swerve ever so slightly to avoid him hitting me. So yeah.. it was black ice and the boys and I became "one with the ditch". Nobody hurt.. we just kinda slid on in.. but far enough in that there was NO way we were getting out. (Remember, it was -42 C on Monday).
I call Eric on the cell and he was in the middle of filling out an accident report.. someone decided ON A CURVE, to stop and let someone out.. meanwhile there was a parking lot 20 feet away. Being as the roads were horrid and Eric was in a rear wheel drive cargo van... he slipped and tapped the guy who decided to stop in the middle of the road. Thank gosh he wasn't going fast.. but had to wait SO long for MP's to come out and fill out the reports.
Meanwhile... someone drove me and the boys over the Eric's office and Sue, a buyer there, was nice enough to give the kids pop and candy and paper to colour on. I had called Honda roadside assistance, first time ever, and no.. sorry.. they couldn't help us until the morning!!! (We have one vehicle, it's -42 and I have 2 young boys with me?!?!) So the lady asked me if I knew anyone who could pull us out... um, NO!??!!? Then, some of the Warrants and Sargeants and Mcpls from Eric's office showed up and said they had a 4-wheel drive truck and they would attempt to pull it out. (this is already about 40 minutes later, it's black out... still waiting for Eric).
While they are out doing that, Eric comes in followed shortly by the Warrant holding the tow hitch from under our car. They hitched it up, pulled and the hitch came flying out from under the car, minorly damaging the bumper. Eric suggests they attach the line to the axle itself.. and so off they went. After 30 minutes, the car is out and there are some COLD men :) And one thankful Mama.
The rest of the week hasn't been any better... so, if ya'll could say a prayer for my sanity.. that would be WONDERFUL!
On a brighter note, I thought I would share a layout I just did of Coleyman... how can this not make one happy?!

Deep Freeze!

Ack. We're in a deeeep freeze.... -35 degrees C.. snow, ice crystals.. the whole shebang. I can't believe it. Oi vey.
So anyways... we have a name for the kit.. yay! Thanks to ANDREA C for the winning name of GARDEN PARTY... it just seems so apt! So Andrea received the kit as well as 2 element packs from my store at Distressed Diva. Also, Debra (STEINWAYSMOM) and Stephanie (SCOCZ911) also received the kit for their runner-up suggestions. Wow, we really have some creative minds out there.. I was totally stumped on this one! Thank you to everyone who threw ideas out there for me!
We had a pretty good weekend, though I was under the weather for most of it. Cole spent Friday and Saturday night on a sleepover and Blake spent Friday night on a sleepover at Uncle Carl's. Needless to say, Eric and I went out to Dante's for dinner... I had my favourite.. Balsamic Glazed Salmon.. and we shared a bottle of Gerwurtztraminer. And.. the bugger surprised me with jewellery again! This is.. what.. the THIRD time he's had the waitress there bring by a box for me?!
Anyways, this is what it was this time:

A Swarovski Rose Meteorite necklace. Ack.. I coulda melted and killed him at the same time! Christmas is coming, we have bills, a trip out to BC.. presents to buy.. but the man SPOILS me. But.. isn't it purty!!? Eric has a thing for Swarovski.. earlier, he also picked up this year's ornament:

And I won't even get into previous things he's gotten me from there... sometimes I think he's entranced by all the sparkly things.. hehe.
This next couple of weeks will prove to be busy for us, we have Eric's company Christmas Party (feels good to say that.. at GE we had to call it "Year End Celebration), the company Kids' Christmas Party, a birthday party, an Info Session for the Graphic Communication program at NAIT, getting ready for Christmas, the kids' Christmas concert, a pre-Christmas dinner here with Carl, and about a dozen other things I have written down that I cannot even remember. Pray for me.. lol.
Anyways... I need to work on Christmas cards.. shovel the driveway, work on some digi stuff, do some laundry, make some Christmas pressies with Cole.. and well... random other things. Hope you're all well!!! :)

So.. here it is!!

New Freebie...

Here is a freebie for you all to enjoy... to mark the 2 week mark of my designing debut at distresseddiva.com ... download and enjoy.. just don't share with others.. direct them to my blog for their free download! Have a great day peeps!

Link 1:Download Here! - Expired

Link 2:Download Here! - Refreshed 11/18/06

Seriously!

You know.. you have those weeks/months where all of a sudden you have to shell out a WHACKLOAD of money that you totally weren't expecting? Like.. the front glass for our 2 year old stove decided to shatter into a million/trillion teensy tiny pieces while I was baking one day.. so that's $150.00 to replace. Eric's insurance had a screwup with the dentist's office and now we own $140.00 instead of our normal $17.00. My prescription (with Eric's insurance) has to be paid up front.. so that's $260.00. Snow tires for the car to make it out to BC for Christmas... $700.00. (What are we up to... $1250.00?) Hmm... makes me wonder why we decided for me to become a stay at home mom again for this year?! But then again, I look at the situation with Blake and some of the obstacles we've had this year.. and I remember.
So yeah.. that's my vent. If anyone has a trick on winning the lottery.. be sure to email me ASAP.. I'll split it with you if I win... k?
So anyways, I have a monkey here that is looking to have a snack.. (apparently you gotta FEED these things too!?) Hehe... so anyways, I hope your week is going better than mine! Take care, have fun, drive safe, and tell someone you love that you are thankful for them today.

Yesterday was Mama's birthday... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I will post a copy of the e-card I sent her... lol (everything by yours truly) :)You have to kind of have our sense of humour to get it... I guess...

Hmm, things have been busy on the digital front, I have been designing away like crazy.. getting stuff up in the shoppe... trying a few new kits. I have about 3 underway that are alllmost complete.. I am just trying to come up with the finishing touches!

So yeah.. I am wiped. He's gotten some pretty bad habits, though the training we've been doing hasn't been doing it's job. I don't know.. it's heartwrenching.

Anyways, I will write more tomorrow, gotta get the turkey into the bath and the other tuerkey's homework done with him.. so til then!

pounds over the course of 3 months

The Excitement!!!!!!

So, I decided to enter into ScrapArtist's APPRENTICE contest.. where they are looking for a new designer. I did it just to have some fun and 'put myself out there'.. which is so unlike me. And you know what? It feels GREAT! I made it past the first round with my mini-kit "Mama's House"

And I was SO thrilled.. the second round is to create 2 papers (1 patterned and 1 solid) to show texture... so I submitted:

I am really having a blast, and even if I don't make it past Round 2.. I am happy to just be able to do this! Here is a page I created using the papers... (everything by yours truly)...

Oh.. and tonight is a night I have been waiting for since I was, like, 9! We are going down to Rexall Place to see the one and only ELTON JOHN!!!!!! Oh, I am SOOOOOO stoked!!! He's my piano-playing hero!

Aye-yie-yie (or however you spell it)

What a crazy bunch of days it has been. It's times like these I know our decision for me to return to being a SAHM is the best decision... but also it is times like these that have me exasparated. I would get into detail, but it's really late and I am emotionally drained!
In the meantime, I am working on a kit, and this paper didn't make it in.. so if you would like it... just click it to download!

Ciao peeples!

Tuesday, September 12, 2006

hehe, I said I would post a layout with the fabulous AUTUMN SOLSTICE paper pack by Jennifer Layden, available at The DigiShoppe
So, here it is!

START THE CAR! START THE CAR!!!

Okay, so the first day of sending the kids to school was kind of bittersweet... my littlest now in Kindergarten... and it's the start of a new era in our household.
HOWEVER, with that said.. by day #3 I was like the lady in the IKEA commercial.. "START THE CAR!! WOOHOOOO!!"
So, with that said.. here's a lookie at the boys' first day!

and

(I used Jen Wilson's fab stuff for both (SUDDENLY STUDIOUS and MEANING No.2 kits)

For Dad...

I have posted a video/song here... for Dad. If you scroll to the very bottom, you can see the video.. it's quite powerful... it's been one of my favourite songs for a long time now, but it's so fitting.
Dad is still struggling from the effects of radiation, compounded with chemo. He's been very sick and has lost a lot fo weight.. but good news is (to find some in this), is the recent scans all showed clear!! Thank you God! Now it's time for healing, rejuvenation and preventative treatment (2 more rounds of chemo left).
So, if any prayers could be spared, send them to a wonderful guy out in St. John's.
Love you Dad!

Saturday, August 26, 2006

Take a Lookie....

This is my new helmet... isn't it CUTE?!!! LOL Woohoo!

And... please continue prayers for my Dad.. he's still not feeling well and continues to lose weight. Our trip has been postponed for the summer, though I have paid for the airline tickets and we will be going in the spring/summer when he's gained some strength and weight.

Boys... ACK!

Ok... so.. it's really hot the last couple days. The boys have been walking around without shirts, naturally. Blake has been FASCINATED with bodily function noises the last few months. He was proud to tell me this morning after my shower that he has mastered a NEW TRICK... much to my chagrin. What next?!?!? LOL.

Friday, July 21, 2006

It's HOT... here's a freebie!

It reminds me of floating on an air mattress in a pool of clear turquoise waters... ahhhh. So yeah.. it might be nice on those summery layouts... either way.. it's yours for the taking.. just leave me a little note :) Have a great one guys!

Prayers....

So, Dad is in the hospital in St. John's as the radiation was really hard on him and he hadn't eaten in over 3 weeks... from what I hear he's doing a bit better now... and now that radiation is DONE... he can begin healing again.. so any prayers you could send to him would be much appreciated.
Things have been mucho hectic here... I have my booooo-tiful camera and am having fun with it!

I am stalking all my family and even the dog... and the plants in the garden.. and.. and .. and.. LOL. Oh.. and here are the boys sporting their new hairdos.. ack! Maybe it will bring a smile to their Poppy's face :)

Toot Toot!!!!

Okay, for those of you not in the digital scrapbooking world, a toot is a sign to let someone know you have great news! And I do! Not only was I accepted into the fab Jennifer Layden Creative Team of Jennilyn Designs at SimplyCleanDigiScraps.com..... I just heard back from Robin Carlton of SweetShoppeDesigns.com and she has asked me to join HER Sweet n' Sassy Creative Team!!!! Out of 80 applicants! Talk about doubly blessed in one week! (makes up for getting read-ended in my car TWICE in the past week, but that's another story!) So, I am fortunate to get all the designs by these wonderful designers so I can work with them and create layouts... and I can go happily posting them around digi-world.
I am stoked, if you cannot tell that already!

On a serious note... we could really use some prayers for my Dad... he has just finished his radiation treatment to his stomach and esophagus, but it's been brutal on him, and he hasn't eaten in almost a month.. he has probably lost 85+ pounds since the surgery to remove the tumor... so any prayers would be greatly appreciated.
We're hoping to get out to see him in August... assuming he's feeling up to it.

Thursday, July 13, 2006

Toot!!! I am so excited...

I have been chosen to be on the fabulous Jennilyn Creative Team at the new Simply Clean Digi Scraps .. with a new site reveal planned for July 15th!! I am thrilled to be able to work with a fabulous group of gals and look forward to many creative moments!
Check out the shoppe on July 15th and see all the great kits and designs by Jennifer Layden, Eve Recinella and Melany Violette.... you'll be glad you did!

Huh!?! A *WHAT* Sale?

Well, I had a really great visit with Mom, I just drove her back to the airport *sniff sniff*.
While out shopping at the West Ed Mall the other day.. we came across this sale:

So the question is... is it a BIG beaver sale? Or.. a BIG BEAVER sale? This was the hot question of the week.. Mom says the former, I say the latter. So then, of course, we had to do a right brain-left brain test online.. thinking we'd be opposites.. but nope, I am 54% left brained and mom is 56% left brained. Hmmm, what kind of sale would YOU think it is?

Sunday, July 02, 2006

Today is the day....

Today is the day I turn(ed) 29. Hmm, not sure what to think of it yet, but the boys and my Mom made the cutest gifts (I'll be sure to post a picture later), Eric got me a gift certificate to the spa for a french pedicure... and they're baking a cake right now :) Life is grand.
Blake finished up grade 2 and brought home an amazing report card.. he met or exceeded expectations in all subjects, and achieved the standard of excellence for Science, Art and Music. He's a boy after his mommy's heart.. my 3 best and favrouite subjects in school! So, on to grade 3... *sigh*. A part of me is celebrating inside that he's done well and is advancing, but that also means he's growing up... TOO FAST! Wahhhh.
Beautiful weather here, yesterday we hauled our butts down to City Hall to enjoy the Canada Day festivities... but we were too tired from the heat by the time evening rolled around that we didn't make it out to the fireworks. But, a fab day.. I must say.
So yeah, that's that.. thought I would write a note while I am banned from the kitchen!!!! Have a great one...

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh.... my..... GOSH! The camera I have been eye-ing for sooooooooo long has been up for grabs as a contest on FishScraps.com... one of my favourite designer's website.... a Digital Rebel XT... 8.0 MP, SLR... beautiful. Well..... the owner of FishScraps called me at 7 pm on my BIRTHDAY.... and...... LOOKIE HERE!!!!!!
I cannot even EXPRESS my excitement... Carrie... THANK YOU!!! Your designs ROCK... and so do you!!!!!!

Just a quickie....

I wanted to post a new layout I did for my scrapbook... my 3 silly boys on Mother's Day.. (Eric *hates* photos, so the pics I *do* have of him are precious to me.. lol).
Anyhoo.. here goes:

Woah....

Could life get any more hectic!? LOL.
School is rapidly winding down, a week and a half left and Blake will be out for the summer. My mom is coming on the 30th and I am just thrilled.
Then, on the 2nd of July, I turn (*gulp*).. 29. Ack. Oh well, I'm happy with my life and where I am right now, so I cannot fuss with turning 29.
The boys are both signed up for Tae Kwon Do for the summer, and I have ordered their Dobuks... just waiting for them to arrive.. I am sure they will look adorable in them!
I finished my first entry for the Digital's New Top Scrapper contest at peppermintcreative.com. I thought I would enter just to keep my creative juices flowing. The topic this week was what we like best about ourselves.. with the design challenge to use repitition.

{Black paper is from Atomic Cupcake (Good Dog), striped paper from Katie Pertiet freebie at Designer Digitals, Michelle Coleman's brush strokes (ScrapArtist), Ali Folendore alpha (ScrapbookBytes), my own funky edge template and from Peppermint Creative I used: SPRING JELLYBEAN (stitches, flowery paper, jewel brads, screw) & FOR MY FATHER (string)}

Dad is going through the nasty effects of radiation to his stomach right now but is taking everything in stride. We are still really hoping and planning on going out there this summer... we'll see how the next 2 weeks play out as we have some things in the works. Still hold onto those prayers everyone.
As well, prayers are needed for my grandmother... her COPD has progressed and she is not doing too well... hospice has stepped in to give more care at home, so we are grateful for that. More prayers needed for her as well...
Anyways, I should run now.. motherhood calls again. Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero!

Friday, June 09, 2006

Whew!

Thanks for all the positive comments (ie: emails) regarding my first little freebie. I know Blogger was down for a couple of days.
Things have been crazy hectic around here... still working on potty training the devil.. er.. the dog. Headaches, stomachaches... blech.. but such is life in my body!
On good days, I have been working on giving the main floor powder room a little paint job, from boring painters beige to a nice dark grey-blue slate colour. Once the trim is painted out a creamy white (from the dark taupe the painter's did.. what they were thinking I don't know).. I will post some pics!
Hard to believe the school year is almost over... then I will have two busy boys to contend with. Hopefully the summer will be all we hope for (more on that another day). Mom is coming up June 30, and I am so excited... I always love when she takes the time to come for my birthday. Yeah, I know... she mostly gets to visit her grandsons.. lol. But, we're close.. so I like to think it's a little about us (her and I) too! She just finished laying down laminate flooring in her house and it looks spankin'!
Oh, a most wonderful update. Dad is doing chemo, and aside from the typical side effects (some nausea, mouth sores..) he is doing WONDERFULLY. He has had his Harley (gulp) on the road for nearly a month and has a completely renewed outlook on life. He's lost about 60 pounds and I can hear the happiness and faith in his voice.
Before I sign off, I wanted to leave you with another little freebie.. just a barnred fun chipboard alpha! I hope you can give it a good home on some of your LO's.. and feel free to leave a comment or email me with your LO! I love to see them.
(special thanks to Atomic Cupcake)
Til' Next Time!

Rainy, Busy Days.....

It has continued to be so rainy here, but the sun has peeked through again and apparently it's here to stay for a while now. YAY!
The mallards out back hatched 6 beautiful ducklings and the heron is currently fishing for (what I call) goldfish in the back pond. Huge, honkin' giant gold fish. What a beautiful place we live in.
Cole is standing here and he wants to say that he still likes Thomas and he *needs* a new train, Molly I think... I think that's one of the few he still doesn't have. In fact, he's trying to push me off my computer to go onto thomasthetankengine.com since Blake got their computer privileges taken away yesterday. LOL...
This past weekend the boys had a birthday party at a Gymnastics place on Saturday and then on Sunday they spent the afternoon at the Valley Zoo learning how to be a Zookeeper with the Beaver's troop. Fun! This coming weekend, Blake is off on a 3-day camping trip with the Beaver's year-end Beaveree.. so it will just be Cole, Eric and I. It will be shockingly quiet.. wow. What will Cole do without someone to make bodily-function noises with, fight with and joke around with?!
Anyways, before I sign off, I am going to post a recent layout, change the music and let Cole play Thomas the Tank Engine since Blake is at school :) Ciao!
Credits Black BG paper, blue bow (recoloured) and silver eyelets freebies from Atomic Cupcake, Coloured papers from Michelle Coleman's Art Papers collection, Green bow (recoloured) from ACOT's Circle of Friend's kit, Sequins from Tandika Star, Hanging tags and black swirl stamp from ScrapArtist's Summer Whimsy Kit, All Boy button from Ali Folendore, Alphas from Kelly Mize (freebie at DD), Messy stitches from Katie Pertiet, Font is Charyn.

Oh the joys...

Rain, rain and more rain... good news is, we're not flooded like the Kootenays... and hopefully we'll dry out a bit soon. Not fun for trying to housebreak a puppy.
One pair of Canadian geese out back have hatched 7 beautiful goslings, I am going to try to snap a photo soon. We've been hard at work on our backyard.. finishing up with the deck area and what not.
My stomach has been worse than ever, so between feeling like utter dookie and still maintaining a daily routine, things have been uber-hectic. Hopefully, *they* can figure out what the bleep is wrong with it, fix it, and I can move on with things soon!
A little tootin' of the horn, I was a runner up at ScrapArtist's "Why I Scrap" contest... got me a nice ol' gift certificate to the shoppe... and then at the Blessings chat last week, also got me a free kit in the trivia game.. hehe. I was feeling might lucky (I love ScrapArtist stuff.. so now I am spending oodles of time just staring at the tidbits of the kits until I find just the right photos to use them with!).
Anyhoo, off to change the tunage on here, from GreenDay to something else, we'll have to see.. need a change of pace. Hope you're all well and in good spirits!

Oi Vey

Boy, have things been hectic! First things first... Dad has gotten his chemo and radiation protocol. Chemo starts this coming Monday.. 5 days straight, of for 3 weeks, then on for 4 days.. of for 2 weeks, on for 3 days... all through the summer, radiation starts in June I believe. He's feeling well, so he has a lot on his side.
I won't stop praying...
Second, THIS little guy now calls OUR house home:

are Arial Black, Jane Austen and Charyn..
He's adjusting well, not screaming so much in his kennel at night.. the first 3 nights were rough. He's smart too, pees on command, doesn't even need a leash going outside from the house to the backyard to do his business. He's intrigued by the neighbours 2 spastic Boston Terriers...
On a sad note, Aunty Barb lost her fight with cancer, her funeral was yesterday... Momw as able to make it out to pay respects. What a strong woman she was.. and I cannot believe she is gone, reunited with her Mom and Dad, free from pain.
Anyways, I will be back to update more again later when Tuck isn't whining to go outside. Take care everyone.

Update... craziness!

Well, my baby is now FIVE. Yes, he's five. *sniff*. Okay, moment of silence while I mourn the passing of his babyhood and welcome true whole-hearted boyhood.

Yes, I am officially verklempt. He celebrated on the 15th since his birthday fell on Easter Sunday and we didn't want him to get confused as to the whole meaning of Easter. Boy, did he get spoiled too!
Can't leave you without a couple of Easter pictures too! We enjoyed a cool Easter, even had some slushy snow in the morning... it was a quiet day, cooked a turkey and celebrated together as a family. I hope you're all well and in good spirits!

Wow, has it been a while or what?

What has been new?
So much, so much. Spring has sprung! Finally! After a record-setting dump of snow in our city in one day (read: 2.5 feet in a day), it's all melted and it's BEAUTIFUL!. The Canadian Geese have returned to the lake/pond behind our house and have let us know quite loudly that they are here and they're hungry. LOL.
It's been a rough start to the year. Eric had kidney stones that sent him to and from hospital at odd hours of the night, on about 4-5 different occasions. Then, Dad was diagnosed with stomach cancer... so I travelled to St John's to see him (much to his suprise when I showed up in Aunt April's living room where he was for dinner that night.. thanks Aunt April, for your help in getting out there). The tumor was the size of a large grapefruit.. but on my last day in St. John's, we got word that it hadn't spread to other organs. Ony March 27, Dad underwent surgery to have it removed, over half his stomach was removed with it, and 1/3 of his esophagus. He is finally back at home and recovering.. still awaiting results of the lymph node pathology to determine the extent of any chemoa nd radiation. We're all praying hard.
The day I flew back from St Johns, (I flew in at 2 am), Eric underwent surgery to have his kidney stones removed.... another 4-5 days of healing from that..
Needless to say, my stomach has been in a giant knot since about the 3rd of January, and it doesn't have any signs of releasing soon. (my stomach issues are a whole other entry saved for another time!).

Oh, and do you want to see something realllly cute??? Huh? You know you want to!

Here is our newest addition, still 3 weeks away from joining our family.. he's still with his momma. Pretty cute little guy eh? He's part Corgi, part Sheltie and who knows what the father was. We got him from the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society.. mommy was rescued almost full-term pregnant on her execution day (yes, they weren't going to put her down injection-method... *sob*)... but alas, everyone is safe now.
So, he was named by the foster parents as Tucker, which is funny because I've *always* wanted a dog named Tucker.. lol.

Anyways, I guess that's it for this entry.... TTYL :)

New Home...

I had the urge to start something new... don't ask me why.. Heaven knows I have enough to do... but hey.. sometimes I just need some time to myself.. so here I am..lol. Things have been crazy hectic with both of our jobs, the holidays, the kids' school, extra-cirricular programs and the like. I wouldn't change it for the world.
We've experienced a VERY mild winter so far (*knock on wood*).. a green Christmas and temperatures around 5-8 degrees celsius...we did have a cold snap in November with temperatures hanging around -25 for about 10 days.. but that's been the worst so far.
Anyways, I'll quit rambling for now... and share some of my latest creations :)
